what you’ll learn

This course will include 4 weeks on the structural and functional aspects of zettelkasten and 5 weeks on leveraging it for writing. We’ll cover everything from capturing ideas, to taking notes while reading, to conecting ideas, to transforming connections into prose, to repurposing your notes for multiple projects, to using notes to build out short and longform writing. Learn how to:

  • Effortlessly capture ideas before they slip away
  • Save the most relevant insights from what you read
  • Connect information in profound and unexpected ways
  • Transform powerful notes into articles, blog posts, and books
  • Start every writing session with words already on the page
  • Develop a system for writing that not only supports your creativity, but inspires it

how you’ll learn

Sessions will be live over Zoom, comprised of both a 2-hour didactic session (lectureQ&A), as well as a 1-hour “Open Studio” session (Q&Ademos). Expect a dynamic learning experience combining:

  • discussions
  • illustrated lectures
  • thinking exercises
  • demonstrations
  • weekly assignments

Note: Only the 2-hour didactic sessions will be recorded. One-hour “Open Studio” sessions will not be recorded so students will feel free to discuss their works-in-progress.

who’s it for

Writers, should-be writers, writers who want to write more, writers who want to have a better experience of being a writer. More specifically, it’s a course for anyone who wants to move beyond “tinkering” and into writing for readers.
